Katie and Carson

A Sunrise Charleston Engagement

Charleston, South Carolina

It had been a very very long night for me. Both of the kids were up all night not feeling well and I was exhausted. I honestly was so worried that my judgement would be clouded during Katie and Carsons engagement session. The second I arrived at Folly Beach to meet them, all of that exhaustion disappeared, like it always does when I start sessions or wedding days. I really don’t know how to explain how or why that happens but it never fails me. I guess the only way to explain it is that I just love my job so much that I don’t think about anything else when Im shooting. Katie and Carson reminded me so much just why I schedule zoom calls before having a bride and groom book. I need to get a feel for the couple and help them understand just how important it is that I make sure I am a good fit for them!

These two y’all, they are just something special. Katie is the sweetest human and man Carson just knocked this engagement session out of the park. With every pose and every kiss Carson was just SO into it. You can really notice how much he adores Katie. Katie and Carson met in Pharmacy school at MUSC which is the medical college here in Charleston. They really started to talk at the Christmas Bar Crawl that occurred downtown. They both love downtown nightlife and the fact that it was holiday themed was Katies favorite part. Like me, Katie LOVES Disney, so it was only fitting for Carson to propose to Katie in the happiest of places for her. I had told to Katie, before her engagement session, that both of the kids were up all night and I was exhausted. Well she did not mind at all and when I learned what she was in school for I realized why she was so understanding. Katie works at Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. I’ll tell you, it takes a special kind of person to work in pediatrics.

We started their engagement session at Folly Beach State park right at sunrise. The sun was behind some clouds for the first few minutes and then it peaked out from behind them and gave us such a beautiful golden glow. We then headed to Chalmers street downtown, which is always an amazing spot in the morning because there are not a lot of people walking around, only the residents walking their adorable little dogs. Guys, this engagement session was full of glow and love and I cannot wait for you to see my favorites from this perfect morning. Enjoy!
